Time travel from the Celtic Path to Lake Attersee

culinary journey
  • Sailing on Lake Attersee
  • Walk along the Keltenbaumweg

Gustav Klimt was so inspired by Lake Attersee that he spent several summers there. His most famous landscape paintings are from this period. Take a walk along the Gustav Klimt Theme Trail in Kammer-Schörfling, right next to the lake, and follow in the footsteps of the world-famous Art Nouveau painter. Gustav Klimt-Garten: Klimt´s enthusiasm for the floral spendlor of nature is particulary evident in his evocative landscape paintings, from the early orchards created around 1898 to his most fascinating garden depictions from 1907, which are no longer just pure reproductions of nature, but unfold on square canvases a free play of color, form and perspective.

Much earlier, the Celts were on the road at Attergau. A hearty Celtic treat and the burnt Celtic drink will set you up for the occasion. The Celtic treat consists of: roast pork, elk meat, lamb dumplings, stuffed bread dumplings, homemade sauerkraut, lentil and coleslaw salad, grilled ribs, cream legumes, celtic pastries.

The Keltenbaumweg is a themed trail on the Koglberg in St. Georgen in the Attergau, which presents the life of our ancestors in the iron age (celts) and nature themes (trees, landscape) in an attractive way. At imaginatively designed stations you can put your own hand up, develop your creativity, acquire knowledge about the Celts in a fun way, find your tree of life and understand nature (length about 2.5 km)
