Bad Ischl

Bad Ischl is a traditional spa and cultural town in the Upper Austrian Salzkammergut region, nestled between mountains, rivers and lakes. Once famous as the summer residence of the Habsburgs, the town is still regarded today as a place of relaxation, inspiration and history. Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth (Sisi) spent many summers here - and still characterise the townscape today.

In addition to the historic imperial villa with its extensive imperial park, Bad Ischl boasts magnificent Biedermeier architecture, traditional coffee houses such as the legendary Café Zauner, cultural events and a charming town centre with boutiques, craft shops and regional cuisine.

As the gateway to the Salzkammergut region, Bad Ischl is also the ideal starting point for excursions into the surrounding lake and mountain landscape - a successful combination of culture, nature and enjoyment.
