In the Salzkammergut, particularly in Bad Ischl, you can walk in the footsteps of Empress Sisi. Bad Ischl was Sisi´s favorite place, and there are many places associated with her, such as the Kaiservilla, the Marmorschlössl, the Zauner pastry shop, and the Sophien Esplanade. One can also walk in the footsteps of the Habsburgs in the Kaiserpark.

Hotel description: Hotel Grand Elisabeth - The **** Hotel, open since April 2025, is, as the name suggests, dedicated to the famous Empress Elisabeth. With 132 rooms an suites overlooking the imperial city, it is the perfect choice for enjoying your time in Bad Ischl to the fullest.
Location: Situated close to the Bad Ischl Congress & Theatre House, it combines its quiet location with proximity to the town center.
Facilities: The hotel offers a restaurant and a bar, as well as wellness facilities with an indoor pool, a fitness room and a sauna. Free WIFI is also available. The highlight of the hotel is located in the lobby. That´s where the original horse-drawn carriage from the Sissi films is housed.
Rooms: Beautiful, high-quality interior with an imperial atmosphere. The rooms are equipped with a shower, WC, flat-screen TV, safe and kettle. Some of the rooms also offer a balcony, terrace or loggia.

Kaiservilla Bad Ischl
The Kaiservilla was the summer residence of Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth. For many decades, up until the 20th century european history was written in the Kaiservilla, and thus in Bad Ischl the "secret capital" of the powerful Danube monarchy. During a 45-minute tour, you will experience the Experience the special flair of past times and learn interesting and personal details about the life of the imperial family. The Kaiservilla is surrounded by the expansive Kaiserpark, which invites you to take long walks.
Marmorschlössl im Kaiserpark in Bad Ischl
As in the times of Empress Elisabeth, the Marmorschlössl presents itself as a charming blend of a pavilion, meaning a freestanding, lightweight structure in a garden or park, and a cottage: A translucent cottage, in which the inside and outside seem to blend, in which it is once again possible to take a stunning look from the terrace through the entire house to the garden behind it. Exhibition themes relate to the region, the Salzkammergut, and the House of Habsburg.

The engagement trip led to Hallstatt, where they also dined. Even today, two memorial plaques commemorate the visit of the wedding couple in Hallstatt.
Ascend and descend the Salzberg in Hallstatt, and visit the "Welterbeblick" viewing platform for a bird´s-eye view of Hallstatt.
The platform floats nearly freely at an altitude of 360 meters and offers a unique view of the UNSECO World Heritage Site Hallstatt and the Dachstein Salzkammergut hiking region. The total stay lasts about 1-1.5 hours.
