Location: Located on the southern shore of Lake Traunsee, known for the salt mining of the saltworks and ideal place for excursions to the Salzkammergut. The scenic surroundings, its central location in the Salzkammergut and a range of leisure activites that leaves nothing to be desired. Over 100km of hiking and walking trails, nature reserves (Offensee, Langbathsee, Gasseltropfsteinhöhle, Wildensee)
Hotel description:
Location: The hotel is situated in the middle of the Salzkammergut region, next to the south shore of lake Traunsee. The trainstation is approx. 200m distance. Public indoor pool approx. 100m, museum approx. 250m and lake Traunsee approx. 300m distance. Cable car to Feuerkogel mountain approx. 1,5km distance.
Facilities: guests will have a comfortable stay at the hotel for a good price. The rooms are furbished cosy and elegant style, suites and family appartements invite for a longer stay. The kitchen is well known. The menu varies from traditional Austrian cuisine to modern healthy food and special diets. Lift and parking lot for free. The restaurant with its gastgarden is accessible from the hotel via covered entrance.
The hotel has been awarded the Austrian eco-label and the EU Ecolabel. The hotel is also planning to use sustainable electricity from solar panels and to build a hydroelectric power station.
Rooms: Rooms and suites are equipped with WC and bath/shower, big LCD and HD flat screen, telephone, high speed WIFI partly balcony or terrace. Some rooms can offer extra beds. The hotel is completely barrier-free and 3 rooms offer special wheel chair facilities. Those are very spacious and offer a drive-in-shower and handels at the toilet. Double room: approx. 25-30m2 , max. occupancy: 2 adultes or 2 adultes + 1 child (up to 11,9 years) Single room: approx. 20m2, max. occupancy: 1 adult.
Wellness: With different saunas, infrared cabin and relax area avialable.

Breakfast at the hotel
Drive along the picturesque Lake Traunsee to Gmunden. There, an informative city tour awaits you - discover the charming lakeside town with its rich history an unique atmosphere.
Following that, you will visit the Erwin Wurm exhibition "Bad People". Erwin Wurm is considered one of the most important representatives of contemporary Austrian art. The exhibition presents ceramic sculptures that impress with their unusual, often humorously distorted human representations. The works are created specifically for the Gmundner Keramikmanufaktur and reflect Wurm´s experimental approch to form, deformation, and materiality.
In the late afternoon, experience the "Lichterzauber Gmunden": The treetop path on the Grünberg transforms into a sparkling fairy-tale world of hundreds of lights - a moody winter highlight.

Then, drive to Bad Ischl. There, enjoy a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride through the imperial spa town and get a charming glimpse of the historic architecture and winter landscape.
Next, visit the Museum of the City Hotel Austria. The historic building was once the site of the engagement celebration of Emperor Franz Joseph and Elisabeth of Bavaria. Today, the museum showcases the city´s development, from salt extraction to the imperial summer residence. The Kalß Nativity scene - one of the largest nativity scenes in the Salzkammergut with more than 300, some of which are moving, fascinates both young and old. Additionally, this year, paper nativity scenes from two centuries can be seen.
In the afternoon, end the day with a leisurely coffee and cake at a traditional Ischl café. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, the journey home will begin.
