Location: The hotel is located in the middle of the beautiful mountain landscape on Lake Wolfgangsee. The lake is approx. 800m away. Restaurants approx. 500m. Boat landing stage for the ferry to St. Wolfgang approx. 800m.

Facilities: The family-run hotel has a total of 25 rooms, reception, restaurant with tiled stove, country-style house bar, elevator, free Wi-Fi, sun terrace and large garden with lawn, sun loungers and parasols, parking. Table tennis and children's playground available. The hotel's own beach is approx. 800m away.

Rooms: All rooms are equipped with bath/shower, WC, telephone, satellite TV, WLAN, balcony and some have a sitting area.

Spoken languages: German and English.

The course of your hiking tour:

Day 1: Individual arrival at lake Wolfgangsee

Welcome to the legendary Lake Wolfgang. For decades, this gem has been captivating guests from all over the world. Enjoy the breathtaking panorama with the Schafberg mountain and the famous view of St. Wolfgang.
Handover of the travel documents at the hotel.

Day 2: The pilgrims path from St. Gilgen to St. Wolfgang

Boat trip from Abersee to St. Gilgen. From here, follow an old pilgrimage trail—lined with numerous picture boards and small chapels—via Fürberg to the legendary Falkenstein Chapel. Enjoy the impressive view down to St. Wolfgang. Descent to St. Wolfgang. Ferry from St. Wolfgang to Abersee.

11 km; 4 hrs., difference in altitude: ascent 350 m

Day 3: Strobl – Bürgl Panorama Trail and on to St. Wolfgang

A scenic dream tour along Lake Wolfgang. A beautiful hiking trail leads through the Blinklingmoos nature reserve to Strobl and on via the Bürglpromenade to the start of the long wooden walkways that lead around the Bürglstein rock. Continue along the beautiful lake promenade to St. Wolfgang.
In St. Wolfgang, the famous Schafbergbahn railway invites you to visit St. Wolfgang's local mountain. Boat trip from St. Wolfgang to Abersee.

Hiking: approx. 4-5 hours (16 km, ascent 200 m in height) 

Day 4: to the Bleckwand scarp, high above the lake

Right next to the hotel, you hike from the Zinkenbach river delta towards the mighty rock face and begin the ascent.
Continuing steadily uphill, partly on trails and partly on forest roads, you hike higher and higher and arrive at the Bleckwandhütte hut after about 3 hours. But the highlight is still ahead of you.
Continuing uphill, you reach the summit of the Bleckwand and the impressive rock arch, through which you have a unique view of Lake Wolfgang. The perfect place for a souvenir photo. Afterwards, you hike back to the hut and spend the night there. (1 night)

Hiking: 4 hours (approx. 80 km, ascent 970 m in height / descent: 200 m in height) 

Day 5: Descent back to the valley

From the hut, the trail leads back down the same path you took yesterday.

Once you reach the valley, it is unfortunately time to say goodbye. Or you can stay longer in the region if you wish—there is still much to discover.

Hike: approx. 2 hours (5,5 km, ascent 0 m / descent 800 m)

The local tax, also known as visitor's tax, is payable locally to the landlord; the amount depends on the resort and is between 1,00€ and 4,00€ per person per night. Children up to the age of 15 are usually exempt.

Notes on staying at an Alpine lodge:

  • *Hut sleeping bag: blankets are available in the huts; necessary but mandatory is only a lightweight cotton/silk sleeping bag liner
  • Due to their location, not all huts can offer running water, hot water or showers. In some cases there is also no flushing system in the toilets.
  • On most huts, card payment is not possible. Take enough cash with you for food and drinks.
