Stille Nacht Advent
- Stille Nacht Kapelle Oberndorf
- Abendliche Fackelwanderung
The simple song "Silent Night! Holy Night!" is familiar to people all over the world and is sung in more than 300 languages every year. The story of its origin and spread is unusual. Many legends have been invented and many falsifactions have come from recent times. But it is enough to tell the truth which is exciting enough. This song is common in every country on earth and the effect of the song is probably that the song, with its evocative melody, conveys comfort and hope. The need for these values is perhaps even greater today than in the days when the song was created. Two young men, Joseph Mohr, who wrote the lyrics, and Franz Xaver Gruber, from whom the song melody originated, collaborated so that the song was performed on December 24, 1818 in the church of St. Nikola in Oberndorf after the Christmas mass. In addition to Oberndorf, Arnsdorf, Salzburg, Hallein, Wagrain and Mariapfarr are responsible for the creation of the song.
