The most famous high alpine trail winds trough the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Alpine Adventure Road: the Großglockner High Alpine Road. Passing by breathtaking Views and blooming alpine meadows, all the way up to the highest mountain in Austria, the 3,798 meter high Großglockner. Meter-high Großglockner!

Salzburg, the capital of the federal state of the same name and the fourth-largest city in Austria, is known for its baroque domes and churches, topped by Hohensalzburg Fortress, as one of the most beautiful to the world.

At Steiner Lodenwelt 1888, you can gain exciting insights into the rich history of the tradition and production of the famous Loden. On the Schafalm, you can enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and valleys and a cozy snack in a rustic mountain hut atmosphere. During a guided tour of the Mandlberggut Distillery takes you behind the scenes of the production of high-quality spirits and elegant brandies and care products.

Drive along the Grossglockner High Alpine Road
Admire the impressive mountain landscape and breathtaking views on this 48
along the 100 km long Alpine road. It traverses the Hohe Tauern National Park and allows exploration of
the alpine nature.
 
Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe is both the end and the climax of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road.
Here, at an altitude of 2,369 meters, you are high above the Pasterze Glacier on
Eye level with the Grossglockner. At 3,798 meters, it is the highest mountain in Austria.
 
At the visitor center on Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe, you'll find a variety of exhibitions, including:
From Austria's highest car show to the National Park Information Center.

Drive to Salzburg - Free time in Salzburg

The city on the Salzach owes its worldwide fame to the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Day 4

Steiner Lodenwelt 1888, Schafalm & Mandelberggut

The excursion begins with a visit to the Steiner Lodenwelt 1888, where you will gain exciting insights into the traditional history and production of the famous loden. During an informative tour, you can learn more about the artful processing of the high-quality fabrics and can convince yourself of their quality in the attached shop.

The bus will then take you up to the idyllic Schafalm. Upon arrival, enjoy not only the magnificent view of the surrounding mountains, but also a cozy snack in the atmosphere of a quaint mountain hut.

The tour concludes with a guided tour of the Mandelberggut distillery. There, you can take a look behind the scenes of the production of high-quality fine spirits and care products. During the subsequent tasting, you will have the opportunity to experience the fine flavors for yourself - a fitting end to an eventful day.
