Your Urban Hiking and Cultural Journey Itinerary:

Day 1: Individual Arrival in Linz

Welcome to the capital of Upper Austria! Upon your arrival, take your time to check in to your hotel and explore the area at your leisure.
With the Linz Card, available from the first day, you can enjoy many benefits: free use of public transport, complimentary entry to numerous museums, and discounts at selected partners. This afternoon, for instance, take advantage of the included entry to the Ars Electronica Center.
End your day with a relaxing stroll along the Danube or indulge in your first culinary delight at one of the city’s many charming restaurants. Linz awaits you with open arms and an exciting mix of culture, history, and modern flair!
You’ll receive your detailed travel documents at the hotel.

Day 2: Hike to Pöstlingberg & Culinary Discoveries with the Linz Häppchenpass

Pöstlingberg is one of the most popular destinations in Linz and has been delighting visitors since 1898 with the Pöstlingberg Railway, one of Europe’s steepest adhesion railways. Reaching the summit on foot can be challenging in parts, as it rises to an elevation of 539 meters.
The trail initially follows the Danube, passing through quiet residential neighborhoods, the modern Anton Bruckner Private University, and the Linz Zoo. At the top, you’ll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of the city and the Alpine foothills from the observation platform.
The Pöstlingberg World of Experience also includes the Grottenbahn, a whimsical attraction housed in a former fortification tower. This colorful dwarf and fairy tale world captivates visitors of all ages. On the lower level, you’ll find a detailed scale replica of Linz’s main square as it appeared around 1900.
For a more relaxed option, part of the hike can be shortened by taking the Pöstlingberg Railway.
Length: 8 km | Walking Time: 2.5–3 hours

Linz Häppchenpass – A Culinary Walking Tour
Embark on a culinary journey through Linz with the Häppchenpass, which guides you to ten selected shops offering gastronomic delights. Each stop features small bites or samples, allowing you to savor the city’s flavors as you explore.

Day 3: Hike to Freinberg – Romans with Panoramic Views & Harbor Tour

Where the castle stands majestically above the Danube today, Linz’s history traces back to Roman times. From the Main Square, it’s just a few minutes uphill via Hofgasse to the Schlossmuseum, Austria’s largest universal museum at a single site. The museum impresses not only with its extensive collection but also with its architecture—a blend of historical and modern elements, including the South Wing, which was opened in 2009 during the Capital of Culture year.
Walk through the inner courtyards of the castle complex and follow the Römerstraße (Roman Road) to Martinskirche, one of Austria’s oldest churches. Continue to the park area, where the Franz-Josef-Warte is located on Freinberg. Climb its 137 steps to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the city, Pöstlingberg, the Danube, and the Alpine foothills.
Length: 8 km | Walking Time: 2.5–3 hours

Harbor Tour – Experience Linz from the Water
Board the MS Linzerin for an up-close experience of Linz’s stunning blend of modern architecture, historic buildings, cultural landmarks, and bustling harbors. The tour extends to the commercial harbor, home to Mural Harbor, Europe’s largest graffiti gallery.

End your last evening in Linz with a delightful dinner at the traditional Stiegl-Klosterhof inn.

Day 4: Journey to Salzburg – Arrival in the City of Music

After breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell to Linz as your journey continues to Salzburg, the world-famous city of Mozart. Enjoy the scenic landscapes along your train ride and look forward to the exciting days ahead.
Upon arrival in Salzburg, check in to your hotel and take some time to explore the city at your own pace. With the Salzburg Card, available from your first day, countless opportunities await you: included entry to iconic attractions such as Hohensalzburg Fortress, DomQuartier, or Mozart’s Birthplace, as well as access to public transportation.
End the day on a relaxing note—perhaps with a stroll through the historic old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and dinner at one of Salzburg’s traditional restaurants.

Day 5: Hike on the Mönchsberg and Discover the Art of Brewing

Your day begins with a scenic hike on the Mönchsberg, one of Salzburg’s most beautiful city mountains. Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the old town and discover fascinating sights along the way, such as the Museum of Modern Art and the medieval fortifications. A highlight is the view from the Richterhöhe, offering a stunning vista of the city and its surroundings.
Distance: 4 km | Duration: 1.5 hours

In the afternoon, a special experience awaits: a visit to the traditional Stiegl Brewery. During an engaging tour, learn about the art of brewing, the brewery's rich history, and the diversity of Salzburg’s beer culture. Of course, the tour wouldn’t be complete without a tasting of Stiegl beers. The evening is yours to relax and reflect on the day’s experiences.

Day 6: Hike Along Hellbrunner Allee to Hellbrunn – Castle, Nature, and Salzburg Delights

Today’s adventure takes you on a beautiful hike to Hellbrunn Palace, one of Salzburg’s most famous attractions. Starting in the Nonntal district and passing the Natural Sciences Faculty of the University of Salzburg, you’ll reach the beginning of Hellbrunner Allee, a straight path leading to the palace.
Explore the fascinating Trick Fountains and the magnificent palace gardens, which invite you to wander and relax in their serene beauty. Optionally, visit the nearby Salzburg Zoo, known for its unique setting and diverse wildlife.
Distance: 6 km | Duration: 2 hours
Return to the city center conveniently using public transportation.
In the afternoon, enjoy a culinary highlight: at the historic Stiftskulinarium St. Peter, you’ll be treated to original Salzburg Nockerl and a hot beverage of your choice—a perfect combination of activity, nature, and indulgence.

Optional Evening Event: Mozart Dinner & Concert at St. Peter Stiftskulinarium
End your stay on a special note! The Mozart Dinner & Concert in Salzburg combines classical music with fine dining. Guests enjoy a three-course menu inspired by historical recipes while musicians in period costumes perform Mozart’s masterpieces. Held in the baroque hall of Europe’s oldest restaurant, this event offers an authentic 18th-century experience.

The Mozart Dinner & Concert is optional and not included in the tour price. Due to high demand, advance booking is required. Please contact us for more information.
