Salzkammergut Trophy 2022 – the routes

The Salzkammergut Trophy includes a total of 7 different routes and route variants, of which 6 routes are individually available for the Salzkammergut Trophy. In addition, the riders still have to decide which bike variant they want to use (MTB/Gravelbike or E-MTB)

B-route – GPS-only:

Route B represents the supreme discipline of the Trophy Individual. At 113 km and 3420 meters in altitude you can expect all the highlights of the Trophy on the one hand, but also all the special challenges on the other.

After the start in Bad Goisern, the first steep climb awaits you. You conquer the first 850 meters of altitude difference of the day up to the Raschberg. After a downhill run, there is a second ascent to the Hütteneckalm before steadily descending first to the unique Ewige Wand and finally back into the valley and into the pilgrimage site of Lauffen. Here you cross the Traun. You can now expect a relatively level 24km with only a slight but steady increase, for a good part along the east bank cycle path along Lake Hallstatt. Once you have arrived in Hallstatt, the hardest part of this route awaits you: the steep ascent over about 10km to the Salzberg and the Durchgangalm. At about 1520m above sea level you will reach the highest point of route B. A longer descent follows with a wonderful panorama to the Gosausee. The next ascent to the Gosau grindstone quarries follows further towards Gosau. Now drive down towards the northern end of the Gosau Valley and finally in the direction of Bad Goisern. There is one last climb before you reach Lake Hallstatt and finally manage the last, relatively level kilometers to your destination in Bad Goisern.

 C-route – GPS-only:

At 60 km and 1940 meters in altitude, a special challenge awaits you on this route with the Salzberg.

You start in Obertraun at the fairground. Initially you ride along the Seestraße to Hallstatt before branching off into the Echerntal. From now on you have to grin and bear it because the hard ascent over almost 10 kilometers to the so-called Durchgang follows. Once you get there, the hardest part is done.

D-route (signed):

Route D starts at the Mauna Loa bike shop in Bad Ischl for 37.2 km and 1210 meters in altitude. You start straight away with an ascent to the district of Perneck and drive up to the Ischler Salzberg. Continue on to the Mitterberg and in a loop past the Rosenkogel. Here you will also reach the highest point of the tour. This is followed by a descent to the Ewige Wand panorama highlight. Now the last steep climb past the Mitterberg before it goes back down the valley and finally through the Rettenbachtal back to the starting point.

E-route (signed):

Similar to route F, you will encounter the visual highlights of Bad Goisern here, with 54 km and 1653 meters of altitude difference, but also for the first time over 1000 meters above sea level.

After starting from the town center you turn off the F route after a relatively short time in order to reach the first "summit" of the altitude profile before you tackle the steep ascent to the Suppenhaferlkogl. Here you will also reach the highest point of your tour at 1100 meters. The route now takes you down the valley on technically demanding terrain, first to the Ewige Wand and finally on forest roads to Lauffen. Together with the riders of route F, the tour now takes you through the Weissenbachtal and to the last long climb before you can enjoy the descent to Bad Goisern in the town center.

F-route (signed):

Here you can find out the highlights of Bad Goisern. At 39.5km in length and with 1082hm you will test your first limits.

From the center of Bad Goisern you start to the southeast and then turn into the first ascent. Mostly on asphalt the route leads you to the Rathlucken Hütte and shortly afterwards on a narrow path to one of the most spectacular vantage points of the Salzkammergut Trophy, the Ewige Wand. After this path, which is partially carved into the rock, you drive downhill on forest roads and to the pilgrimage site of Lauffen. Cross the Traun on a narrow bridge before you come across the toughest challenge of the tour at Weissenbachtal. Gradually climbing higher and higher, up to the highest point of the route at almost 940 meters above sea level. From here the descent leads to the destination, back to the center of Bad Goisern.

G-route (signed):

Even if this is the shortest of the routes at 22.7km, it offers its own challenges with 542hm.

After starting in Bad Goisern, you ridepast the Hanuschhof spa center via the wild path road to the Weißenbachtal. Now the ascent through this valley awaits you. The route takes you to the district of Hochmuth, which is only inhabited by a few mountain farms, before you start the partly steep descent. Passing the Nordic center you get back to the town center and thus to your destination.
