This cycle tour really has a lot to offer: the sporting adventure and cultural and historic highlights make your holiday an unforgettable experience. Our tour takes you through parts of the Salzkammergut and the Mozart town Salzburg in seven days.

General information

The cycle tours don’t have any technical difficulties, there are only very few ascents! A reasonable fitness level is necessary to enjoy this trip as well as cycle equipment like sneakers, rucksack, sun- and rain protection, comfortable sports cloths, jacket, jumper aso. The routes are suited for trekking bikes - mostly they are asphalted cycle paths, a few stretches are gravel and forest paths. Should you want to spend a quiet day, you can cover most distances by public transport like bus, train or boat.

Arrangement

  • 7 x Overnight stay with breakfast buffet in *** inns and ****hotels (2x in Salzburg and 1x in Bad Ischl)
  • 1 x welcome video with explanations and information that you need for the tour
  • 1 x cycling map - Salzburg area and further information material (1 x per room)
  • 1 x Boat trip on Lake Wolfgangsee incl. bicycle
  • Daily luggage transfer - max. 2 pcs./person and max. 25 kg/piece of luggage
  • Daily cycle and break-down service from 8.00 - 18.00 o’clock (for rented bikes)

Routing:

1. Day: Individual arrival in Salzburg.

Handing over of the travel documents and bicycles (if booked) in the hotel in Salzburg.
Overnight stay in Salzburg.

2. Day: Salzburg – Thalgau, ~23 km, altitude difference á273 m / â142 m

We recommend taking the morning to explore the city of Salzburg a bit. Start cycling along the former “Ischler Bahn” railway line past Eugendorf and to Thalgau.

Overnight stay in Thalgau.

3. Day: Thalgau – Bad Ischl, ~43 km, altitude difference á315 m / â386 m

From Thalgau - through a forest to St. Lorenz at Lake Mondsee - over the Scharfling (short ascent on high-pass Scharfling pass) to Lake Wolfgangsee - lake side cycle path to Strobl - through Lindau on to Ischl

Overnight stay in Bad Ischl.

4. Day: Bad Ischl – Lake Mondsee, ~29 km, altitude difference á289 m / â269 m

The cycle path starts in Bad Ischl, goes through Pfandl - Radau to St. Wolfgang - with the boat from St. Wolfgang to the Mozart village St. Gilgen - over the Scharfling pass and past Lake Krottensee to Lake Mondsee. You cycle along the lake shore to St. Lorenz and further to Mondsee.

5. Day: Lake Mondsee – Seekirchen, ~37 km, altitude difference á 355 m / â338 m

Tipp: Visit the “Rauchhaus” and the “Bauernmuseum” – an outdoor museum in Mondsee about the farmer’s everyday life in the region! From Mondsee to Lake Irrsee along the cycle path - the path takes you along the left shore to the end of the lake in Oberhofen - branch off to Neumarkt - around Lake Wallersee to Seekirchen.

6. Day: Lake Wallersee – Seeham, ~34 km, altitude difference á 315 m / â313 m

From Lake Wallersee past Köstendorf to Schleedorf - further to Lake Mattsee - Lake Obertrumersee / Mattsee circular tour - to Seeham.

Overnight stay at Lake Obertrumer See.

7. Day: Seeham Salzburg, ~34 km, altitude difference á289 m / â389 m

From Seeham past Nußdorf to Oberndorf – Quiet Night Chapel – along the river Salzach on the Mozart cycle path past Anthering to Salzburg.

Overnight stay in Salzburg.

8. Day: Individual departure or additional nights.

Twin-bedded rooms in Austrian resorts are normally one large base with two mattresses/duvets. These are also known as 'Austrian Twins' and are regarded as two beds. Separate twin beds are rare and cannot be guaranteed as available.

The parking place does not always situate next to the accommodation but on a public parking place. (Possible costs have to be paid on spot)
