5th day: Grasleitenhütte – Grasleitenpasshütte – Violetthütte - Rotwandhütte
approx. 12 km, ~ 6 hrs., altitude difference á 750 / â 630 m
Today, after a steep ascent to the Grasleitenpasshütte, you hike the south side of the Rosengarten. The closer and more rough the rock faces at the beginning of the hike, the wider the view of King Laurin’s Rose Garden! Later you can admire in the distance the mountains of the Sella Group, Pordoi, and the Marmolada. Behind the hut, follow the path no. 11 first into a wide gravel chariot. There keep to the right following path 11 and steeply up to the Grasleitenpasshütte. The consequences of past heavy rainfall have partly destroyed the markings, but the direction is clear and traces of climbing are easy to find. After an extensive photo stop at the small Grasleitenpasshütte (a stop for refreshment), which is built like a small swallow nest on the rock, we go on trail no. 584 down to the Vajolethütte (catering), which is right next to the Preusshütte.
After a stop and many photos of the well-known Vajolet towers, you first walk a short stretch down the gravel road and soon uphill again towards the Rotwandhütte (Rif. Roda di Vael) Path no. 541. After approx. 30 min. Ascent, stay more or less at the same altitude and follow the path 541, 545 (Schafsteig) and again 541 to your accommodation.

- Bring your own mouth/nose mask
- On most huts, card payment is not possible. Take enough cash with you for food and drinks.
- Due to their location, not all huts can offer running water, hot water or showers. In some cases there is also no flushing system in the toilets.
- Dogs on request; not allowed in the sleeping areas. Attended stay in the winter room possible, partly dog kennels available, extra costs to be paid on spot. In Austria there is a general linen and muzzle requirement!
