“World heritage region”: the mighty Dachstein – 2995 meters high – has been decorated with this award in 1997. The impressive mountain landscape along with Hallstatt and the region Dachstein Salzkammergut were named world heritage region by UNESCO.
Requirements and general information
The tour mainly covers alpine terrain. You will need appropriate mountain equipment and basic stamina.
Necessary mountain equipment: ankle-high boots, functional clothes, rucksack, food and water, rain and sun
protection, first-aid kit, mobile phone, possibly hiking sticks, … Even in the midsummer there could be a drop
of temperature, so please make sure that you have warm clothing with you including gloves and cap.
Your route is recorded for posterity when you enter your name in every hut logbook in the Dachstein Mountains.
The routes are well signposted, although the signs could partly be covered by snow. Hence, it is imperative
that you take your maps and the Dachstein hiking book with you. An experienced guide is available to
accompany you upon request.
The carrying out of the tour is dependent on weather conditions! Alternative walking routes are always possible.
Arrangement
- 5 x Overnight stay with alpine breakfast(2 x ***inn/hotel, 3 x hut – communal bunks, hut sleeping bags mandatory)
- 1 x welcome video with explanations and information that you need for the tour
- 1x transfer from Filzmoos to Gosau
- 1 x Hiking map (1 x per room)

Routing:
1st day: Individual arrival in Gosau am Dachstein.
You will receive your travel documents at the hotel
Overnight stay in Gosau.
2nd day: From your accommodation in Gosau you start the hike along the Herrenweg over the Kalvarienberg to the Zwieselalm where the Gablonzerhütte is located. There is a remarkable panorama with a magnificent view of the Dachstein.

~ 9 km, 4,5 hrs, altitude difference á 890 m / â 123 m
3rd day: Today´s hike leads you along the Austria Weg, first over steeper flower meadows to the Oberer Törecksattel. Then it continues slightly downhill on the south side of the Großer Donnerkogel and through a forest to the Stuhlalm. From here you walk half an hour to Theodor-Körner-Hütte.

~4 km, 2 hrs, altitude difference á 114 m / â 217 m
4th day: After a refreshing breakfast, hike back to the Stuhlalm. Through rocky boulders and green mountain pastures you pass the striking Bischofsmütze and the stage destination – the Hofpürglhütte.

~6,5 km, 2-3 hrs, altitude difference á 339 m / â 97 m
5th day: From the Hofpürghütten you start the descent into the valley to Filzmoos via the Wastl-Lackner-Steig. Passing the nice Almsee you continue to the centre of Filzmoos. After you have explored the town centre, you will take a taxi back to the starting point Gosau.

Notes on staying at an Alpine lodge:
- *Hut sleeping bag: blankets are available in the huts; necessary but mandatory is only a lightweight cotton/silk sleeping bag liner
- The Covid-19 protective measures valid at the time must be observed
- Due to their location, not all huts can offer running water, hot water or showers. In some cases there is also no flushing system in the toilets.
- On most huts, card payment is not possible. Take enough cash with you for food and drinks.
