1. day – travel to Wolfganglake – dinner at hotel
2. day – cycle tour - Wolfganglake round tour (ca. 23 km), level of difficulty: simple
Today you cycle along the Wolfganglake. You start in your home base village Strobl and go to Abersee and St.Gilgen along the lake shore.
St. Gilgen is the birthday place of Mozart’s mother and his sister.
TIP: visit the musical instruments museum at the Mozarthouse – you see there musical instruments from over the world and from many centuries.
From St. Gilgen to Ried you take the boat along the climbing wall of Falkenstein (incl.cycle);
the cycle path follows along the lake shore to St. Wolfgang village.
The world most famous operetta is written here for the White Horse Inn; it was translated in 22 languages and it was the first operetta which took place at the Broadway in America.
On the lake terrasse of the nice hotel White Horse Inn you get served the Rössljause; (handmade cake with wipped cream, cup of coffee or tea)
We recommend to walk through the nice village and to visit the pilgrims church with the well known altar of
Michael Pacher; it is a gothic winged altar.
After the visit of this pretty village you follow the lake and come back to Strobl and Weissenbach where your hotel is located.
3. day – hiking- integral nature reserve Blinklingmoos, approx. 8 km; 3 hours,
level of difficulty: simple
Hiking from the hotel on the hiking path to Wolfganglake shore in Strobl village center.
Along the Blinklingmoos to Abersee – at the view tower you take a look to St. Wolfgang
The path back brings you directly from Abersee to Strobl.
TIP: take a snack with you and enjoy the silence and the peacefull nature at one of the 10
„Gschmohplatzln „ (special places with comfortable seats, great views and information boards)
4. day – cycle tour to Bad Ischl (ca. 28 km), level of difficulty: simple
From your hotel the cycle path goes to Lindau and to the emperial town Bad Ischl .
Here you enjoy a round tour with the small electric train for 30 min.
After the tour you visit one of the Austrian famoust bakeries – the “kuk Konditorei Zauner” to take a “Zaunerjause “ (1 piece of Kaisertorte and a cup of coffee or tea) ; impressed from the imperial flair of the city
you leave Bad Ischl and go back via Kreutern , Pfandl, Windhag to Strobl.
5. day – hiking on the Postalm, level of difficulty: simple to moderat
Drive up by your car or with the local bus (extra to pay – it’s a toll road)
The Postalm is the 2nd largest plateau on the top of mountains in Europe (just the Seiseralm in south tyrol is larger); you will watch a fascinating world of wildlife; to start we special recommend from parking lot 3 .
The round hiking tour called “Almblumenweg”; duration 2 hours; very seldom fauna and flora with information boards.
TIP: make a culinary stop at the Schnitzhofalm – it is one of the oldest cheese dairys in Austria
You can taste delicious cheese and buttermilk.
6. day – today you spend your holiday time at the hotel Bergrose – you relax and enjoy the facilities of the hotel. At 2pm you start with the Lake Sushi Workshop;
duration incl. dinner and drinks /water, coffee, tea) approx.. 5-6hours
Husky streamhiking tour – you’ll be teached to appreciate the water, to understand how fishes want to live in the flowing water, respect the animals and how you can handle the nature. Sushi and Japanese – the classic cut, together you produce Sushi from the lake, you enjoy and talk a lot about the quality of food. How important will be the element water for the fish and our cultur of kitchen in the future.
7. day – hiking at Hallstättersee: east side hiking path along the shore of Halllstättersee to Hallstatt, approx.. 9,5 km, approx.. 3 Std. level of difficulty: simple
Go by your own car or by offical bus to station Steeg / Hallstätter See Au.
The lake landscape from the glacial epoch offers a special view of fjords. Till approx. 10.000 years the lake has the same square kilometers; on the largest point it is 2,1km wide and the maximum length is 8,2km.
Between lake shore and train route is a gravel walk, pass some houses, up and down and later you hike through the wood to come more and more southerly.
When you pass the rope bridge you reach the embankment ditch; make a look to the water and think, that it is here 125,2m deep.
At trainstation Hallstatt you be on the highest point of your day tour – 520m; now you take the ferry boat
to the historic UNESCO world heritage Hallstatt.
Look up to the old houses which are built in rocks; people are still living in these small houses .
Specially from the water you get this empressive discovery.
TIP: Visit the world heritage museum Hallstatt – the museum touches all your senses, tells a lot of the history of Hallstatt and is self-explanatory organiced.
Before you leave, take your present at the Salzkontor.
Take the boat ferry back from Hallstatt Markt station to trainstation and take the train back to Steeg.
From here you go back by your car to the hotel or take the official bus.
8. day – excursion – Sightseeing Salzburg
Go by bus line 150 to Salzburg city - approx. 1 hour riding time. You can use your own car too.
The most important highlights of Salzburg like the Getreidegasse, the monastery, cathedral and the residence square, museum of modern art at Mönchsberg, the Mirabellgarden and castle Mirabell, the house of nature, Mozart’s living- and birthday house aso. are all in walking distances.
TIP : With your Salzburg Card 24 h you have the entrance to all sightseeings included as well as all transfers with offical busses. The card is included in your package.
9. day – cycle tour to Mondsee – round the lake (ca. 63 km); up 192 m, level of difficulty: simple to medium
You start from the hotel to St. Gilgen – pass the Krottensee and via the Scharfling (short up road) you come to the Mondsee; along the like shore on right hand side and finish in Mondsee village .
Visit the basilika where the wedding for the movie sound of music was done. (12 altars from the wood carver Guggenbichler from south tyrol) and take a coffee on the baroque market square.
Extra tour Attersee (+ 7 km)
On the east end of Mondsee in the village Au you can go to Attersee – 3,5 km more .
The village Unterach at Attersee is a nice place to visit . You drive back by cycle and continue your tour.
Both lakes – Attersee and Mondsee – invite to make a boat tour.
10. day – off day – enjoy the Wolfganglake
If you like and the weather is good you can swim in the lake
11. day: excursion to t. Gilgen up to the Lärchenhütte – 598 Hm –
level of difficulty: simple to moderate
Go by offical bus, your car or by cycle to St. Gilgen.
From here you hike to direction of Sausteigalm up the mountain Zwölferhorn – approx. 1,1/4 hours.
Some minutes subapical of Sausteigalm you go right hand side to Lärchenhütte. A wonderful view round the lake and the mountain area will recompense you for the exhausting hike.
TIP: possibility to take a drink and snacks at the almhut
Back you hike via the Weisswand to St. Gilgen and further to Strobl.
12. day – hiking – Brian trail from Bad Ischl to Bad Goisern, approx. 9 km, 3 hours .
level of difficulty: simple
Go by offical bus, your car or by cycle to Bad Ischl.
Before you start your hiking tour you visit the museum of the town on the Esplanade .
Here you get a lot of information about the saltmines, and the brian trail – the oldest pipeline of the world !
You start the trail on the museum – along the Traun river to the cable car station of Katrin cable car.
From here the wooden path brings you to Lauffen, visit the church – the chapel was built from people who had to pass the wild river Traun save with their salt transports. Along the river via Weißenbach you be in Bad Goisern.
Back you can go by offical bus or train to Bad Ischl or hike on the other side of the river back to Bad Ischl.
TIP: In Bad Goisern village center is the bakery Maislinger – here you get very delicous bread !!
Visit the Handcrafthouse too . it is near by Maislinger – here are 15 companies presented which are doing old hand craft . You find a shoemaker, glass maker, wood carver, “Dirndl” tailor (local clothes) aso.
13.day - cycle tour to Traunsee with boat and train (approx. 66 km), level of difficulty: simple
With cycle from your hotel to Bad Ischl and along the river Traun to Ebensee and Traunsee.
Here you take the boat from Ebensee to Gasthof Hoisn.
From here the cycle path goes via Gmunden:
Prinz of Wales told that this is one of the most nicest places of the world; the southerly flair, the beautfull villas and castles around the lake, the clear water und the clean air gives a special atmosphere. Find some houses of renaissance period or the carillon from ceramic (it is the only one in the world) – this all together shows how rich this town was in former times.
Visit the old market, the castle Orth (on the island), the ceramic manufactory, the church, castle Weyer the Kammerhofmusem aso.
After the visit in Gmunden you follow the cycle path back to Ebensee. You pass the village Traunkirchen – the half island of the lake with the chappel of the Hl. Johannes.
TIP: when you reach Traunkirchen make a stop at the SPITZVILLA for a drink or coffee; the garden terrasse on the lake is unique.
From Ebensee you can go back by train and cycle to Bad Ischl and to Strobl are 15 km more.
14. day – departure
